Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Zodiac Signals ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website at zodiacsignals.com (the "Service").

1. What Data We Collect

To calculate your birth chart, we ask for your date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth. In our current implementation, this data is processed in your browser and on our servers for chart calculation only. We do not permanently store your birth data on our servers.

We may also collect standard web analytics data such as pages visited, browser type, device information, and approximate geographic location (derived from IP address).

2. Cookies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies for analytics and advertising purposes. These may include first-party cookies set by our analytics tools and third-party cookies set by advertising partners. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Google AdSense - for displaying advertisements. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your browsing activity. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Stripe - for processing payments for premium reports. Stripe handles all payment data securely. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.

4. Data Retention

Birth data submitted for chart calculation is not stored beyond the duration of your session. Analytics data is retained in accordance with our analytics provider's standard retention policies. If you create an account in the future, account data will be retained until you request deletion.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You may also opt out of targeted advertising by adjusting your browser or device settings.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.

8. Discord Bot Data

The Zodiac Signals Discord bot (a separate service from this website) collects and stores the following data ONLY when you explicitly register via the /register command:

• Your Discord user ID (required to identify you across servers).
• Your birth date (year, month, day), and optionally your birth time and birth coordinates (latitude/longitude derived from a city name).
• Your computed Sun, Moon, and Rising signs.
• A consent timestamp recording when you completed registration.
• XP and level data, per Discord server (used for the leveling system).
• Daily-DM subscription preferences (timezone + hour), if you opt in.

Message content is read in-memory ONLY to check whether a message qualifies for XP (must be at least 5 characters). It is never stored.

Your control: Run /deletemydata in any server where the bot is present to permanently remove all your data. Run /exportmydata to receive a JSON file of everything stored about you. Bot data is hosted on Railway PostgreSQL, encrypted at rest and in transit.

Retention: Active user data is retained while you remain registered. When you are removed from a Discord server where the bot operates, your server-scoped data (XP for that server) is deleted within 30 minutes.
